It’s been over 10 years since NFPA 13 prohibited the use of nonlisted antifreeze in new systems, three years since the launch of the first UL listed antifreeze, and mere months since NFPA 25’s sunset date for nonlisted antifreezes. But in between all of that, several more listed antifreezes have become available to the market and new editions of NFPA Standards have been published, some of which included changes related to antifreeze system requirements. This webinar will review the key items fire protection industry professionals should understand about ensuring safe and compliant antifreeze systems. We’ll cover topics such as UL 2901, NFPA requirements for new and existing antifreeze systems, ITM of listed antifreeze systems, and more.

Description: Wildfire is no longer an occasional threat- it’s a constant one. Recent fires in Los Angeles served as a real-world test of exterior wildfire defense systems, offering important lessons about what worked, what didn’t and why. This session will share key takeaways from homes protected by Frontline, including system successes, challenges and why some properties were lost. We’ll also cover how wildfire spreads in the wildland-urban interface (WUI), the role of passive vs. active mitigation strategies and how exterior sprinkler systems are emerging as a critical piece of the puzzle. For fire sprinkler contractors, this represents a growing opportunity to expand into exterior wildfire protection- a natural extension of their existing expertise and a way to meet increasing demand in high-risk regions.

Learn more about seismic bracing for fire protection applications. Discover the relevant codes and standards that dictate when seismic bracing is needed and where to find the relevant seismic design criteria on plans. See what the components of a typical seismic bracing system are for different kinds of fire protection piping and what products can offer time-savings for both contractors and inspectors. Understand what the maximum spacing and minimum bracing requirements for different kinds of seismic braces are and what exceptions may be options to incorporate during the design phase.

Goals & Objectives:

1. Be able to find relevant seismic design criteria on plans to determine if seismic bracing is required.

2. Know what the typical components of a seismic bracing system for piping are and the common third party approvals they may have.

3. Understand what maximum brace spacings and minimum bracing requirements and are and how to translate that to a pipe run.

Topic Summary:

The bonding world is very different from insurance. It’s not always something that our clients understand. Often, contractors in the industry know very little about bonds or the true purposes of having them. In addition, the don’t fully understand why or what happens if a bond claim is to occur. Since many do not understand a great deal about bonding, they don’t know what factors may affect their rates and bonding capacity. Our goal is to get them to think about the factors that affect the sureties’ decisions, leading to larger and more profitable bonded jobs.
