Designing and  installing sprinkler  systems  requires review  and  compliance with  both  the International  Building  Code (IBC) and  NFPA  installation standards.   We  will review  the  sprinkler, fire  department connection,  and fire  pump installation  requirements  located  in  chapter  9  of  the  2021  edition  of  the  IBC  and  compare  them  to  the  requirements  found  in  the  applicable NFPA installation  standards  including  13,  14,  and   20.    It   is   important   to   understand   the   regulatory   matrix   and   hierarchy   of   codes   and   standards   when   evaluating   additional   and/or   conflicting   installation   requirements.    There   are   differences   between   the   building   code   and   installation   standard   requirements   that   must   be   understood   to   ensure   compliance   with   both   documents.

This seminar is important for the fire sprinkler  industry,  architectural community,  and  for code  officials as  they all  play  a role  in  compliance and  enforcement.   The assumption  is  that the  participant will  already have  a basic  understanding  of building  codes  and  NFPA  installation  standards.
