Products used with fire sprinkler systems to protect areas subject to freezing and corrosion are wide ranging. With the antifreeze ban by NFPA 13 in 2012, many innovative and new products are available and have been used successfully by fire sprinkler contractors. General Air Products, a NFSA member, explains the use and success of nitrogen and dry-air systems in large storage warehouses. AGF Manufacturing, a NFSA member, describes several products that assist in protecting systems from freezing. Lubrizol, a NFSA member, has a recently released listed antifreeze that the industry has anticipated since 2012, when NFPA 13 prohibited antifreeze in new fire sprinkler systems. This is the second listed antifreeze on the market and is specifically listed for CPVC and other piping systems.
